I am really interested in nurturing a creative space in which to champion stupid or ridiculous artistic ideas. I am absolutely serious about the craft of painting, but I want bizarre stories and a reason to laugh. I want to explore myths, legends, and larger than life stories that take place through broken or hobbled people. I want fantastic creatures and a sense of wonder. I want beauty that is free of heavy-handed motives. I get charged by dynamic marks and a broad color palette. I want art that’s tough. It’s a challenge to solve so many colors, and you can’t be a sissy in pastels. I want fractured narratives and scenes that barely hang together, and I want the freedom to rip-off moments and images from daily life. I just want it all, the weak and the brave.
